FIFA has allocated $871 million in total prize money for the 2026 tournament. The further a team advances, the larger their share, so on pitch performance directly shapes what each federation earns from the pool.

FIFA lists the champions at $50 million, the runners up at $33 million, and the third place team at $29 million. Every participating nation is guaranteed at least a portion of the overall prize money.

Each team competing in the tournament is guaranteed at least $12.5 million in financial support. That floor includes $2.5 million for tournament preparation, up from $1.5 million previously, plus a $10 million payment for qualifying, an increase over the prior $9 million award. Prize money rises significantly as teams advance through the knockout stages.
