Texas sports fans often associate Argentina with San Antonio Spurs legend Manu Ginóbili. Argentine sports fans associate Dallas with the heartbreak of the 1994 World Cup, Lionel Messi's soccer history on American soil, and the anticipation of another World Cup.

On June 30, 1994, Diego Maradona was suspended from the World Cup following a positive drug test and gave an interview in his Dallas hotel room. Argentina lost to Bulgaria at the Cotton Bowl that same day and was subsequently eliminated in the round of 16.

In 2015, Lionel Messi scored against Mexico in a 2, 2 friendly match held at AT&T Stadium. Eight years after his 2015 match, Messi scored two goals and assisted on a third for Inter Miami against FC Dallas, en route to Inter Miami winning the Leagues Cup.

Argentina is guaranteed to play two World Cup matches in North Texas, with the potential to play up to four depending on their group stage finish.

Juan Canali is a 47-year-old traveler from Córdoba, Argentina, visiting Dallas with his wife and two children. His interest in Dallas includes the TV series Dallas, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and Texas cowboy culture.

When it was confirmed that Argentina would play there, it felt exactly right. We're already talking about coming back after the World Cup and spending even more time.

Leandro Antinori is a 47-year-old traveler from Santa Fe Province, Argentina, traveling with five friends. Antinori and his friends have followed Argentina to every World Cup since the 2010 tournament in South Africa. Antinori's group plans to attend Argentina's opening match against Algeria in Kansas City before attending two group stage matches in Arlington.

The idea in Dallas is to arrive and really explore the city

Argentine supporter groups have scheduled two banderazos at Klyde Warren Park on June 21 and June 26.
