Cristiano Ronaldo is set for another World Cup run in 2026, and the focus for fans tracking the Portuguese superstar is straightforward: who he represents on the international stage and where he plays at club level right now.
Ronaldo represents Portugal at the World Cup and serves as captain of the national team. He made his senior Portugal debut in 2003 and has since become the country's all-time leader in appearances and goals, recording 228 caps and 143 goals. He helped Portugal win UEFA Euro 2016 and UEFA Nations League titles in 2019 and 2025.
Despite that international success, Ronaldo has never the FIFA World Cup. Portugal's best finish during his career came in 2006, when the team reached the semifinals and finished fourth. He has appeared at five additional World Cups since then without lifting the trophy.
At club level, Ronaldo plays for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr. He joined the club in December 2022 after leaving Manchester United. Before that move, his career included stops at Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.
