Mora's appearance in the tournament opener made him the youngest player at the 2026 World Cup. He also broke a Mexican record that had stood for 96 years and placed himself among the youngest players ever to appear in a World Cup match. He did it in front of more than 80,000 fans while representing a host nation under full tournament pressure.

Before the World Cup, Mora had already become the youngest player to debut for Mexico's senior national team. He the Gold Cup while still a teenager and arrived at the tournament after excelling at youth levels and gaining professional experience while many players his age remain in academy systems.

In his World Cup debut, Mora completed every pass he attempted and showed a level of composure rarely seen from someone his age. Pelé, Samuel Eto'o, and Norman Whiteside are among the legends who experienced the World Cup before turning 18. Mora now finds himself alongside those names on soccer's biggest stage.
