The studio's latest release has drawn widespread acclaim from press and players since launch. Abrak noted the project still has a roadmap in place, including Lenny Kravitz's planned return as Bawma, and said the immediate focus is on improving loading times and rolling out updates and new content.
Right now, we want to improve loading times, we want to release these updates and content, so that people feel through the Tactical Simulation and the missions that this is a living, breathing world that we've created and that just keeps on expanding,
Although franchise talk has circulated in recent weeks, including comments from Amazon Game Studios suggesting future Bond games could remain with IO Interactive, Abrak pushed back on sequel expectations for now.
Sequels and whatnot, theories about that, that's like a long way off for us right now,
He said IO Interactive intends to keep expanding 007: First Light with free post-launch support in the same style the studio used on Hitman, including Tactical Simulation modes, challenges, missions, gadgets, upgrades, and playable content such as taking the Aston Martin Valhalla for a first spin outside.
It's always nice to end with a cliffhanger like that after hopefully a page turner for people playing this game that promises more content to come. We have the concept of Tactical Simulation where you can get all these different modes and challenges. You can take the Aston Martin Valhalla for a first spin outside to get some wind under your wings. There's stuff like that but also more advanced challenges and missions and gadgets and upgrades. We'll keep on supporting all that and that part is free. People know all the added value that we put in from Hitman, and we'll continue the same style and build a community like that.
Abrak also framed the approach as staying true to the DNA of Hitman while building out the Bond experience. Amazon MGM has not ruled out a future IO Interactive James Bond sequel, but for now the studio's public message centers on ongoing support for 007: First Light rather than announcing a next installment.
