Thierry Henry said Cristiano Ronaldo could have done more to help Portugal find a winning goal after the side settled for a disappointing 1-1 draw against DR Congo at the World Cup. Henry, a 1998 World Cup winner with France who is working as a Fox Sports analyst at this tournament, singled out a second-half moment when Ronaldo ran into the path of midfielder Bruno Fernandes while looking for a ball into the box.
The team needs to score, not you need to score.
Henry's comment landed as Ronaldo continues a record sixth men's World Cup appearance. His 143 international goals remain the most in history, and he scores at a slightly higher rate for Portugal than longtime rival Lionel Messi does for Argentina, 0.62 to 0.60.
Portugal returns on June 23 against Uzbekistan, and manager Roberto Martinez may look to change the lineup after a stagnant opener, with Ronaldo potentially coming off the bench.
