Lionel Messi has drawn attention with his first goal of the 2026 World Cup. Petar Musa scored his first ever FIFA World Cup goal to equalize for Croatia against England, pouncing at the end of the first half after Mario Pašalić chipped over the top, Ivan Perisic took advantage of Reece James' blindside and flicked toward Musa, and the FC Dallas forward volleyed past Jordan Pickford.
Colombia's Daniel Muñoz produced an acrobatic finish after Luis Diaz clipped a pass into his path, redirecting the ball into the roof of the net at a packed Azteca. Morocco's Ismael Saibari chipped the ball over the goalkeeper for his country's first goal of the tournament against Brazil, set up by a vertical pass from Brahim Diaz that split the defense.
With attacking football producing goal after goal in the early going, the race to crown the best strike of the World Cup so far may only get tighter as the group stage continues.
