The no show does not appear to signal a delay. Ahead of Take Two Interactive's May 2026 earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed the launch window remained intact.
Our Fiscal 2026 performance was exceptional and exceeded our initial expectations at every label. We believe Fiscal 2027 will establish new record levels of operating performance driven by the Nov. 19 launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, along with strong execution across our portfolio.
Rockstar and Take Two likely did not need Summer Game Fest to drive attention. GTA 6 is already positioned as one of the biggest releases on the calendar, and other publishers have reportedly adjusted launch timing around it.
Zelnick also indicated the game's major marketing push would not begin until summer, which officially starts June 21. A third GTA 6 trailer is expected within the next month or two, and pre orders may open around the same window. Pricing remains unsettled, though Zelnick has said the final number must feel very reasonable while industry chatter has floated a possible $80 standard for AAA titles.
