Grand Theft Auto VI is set in the fictitious U.S. state of Leonida and follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Lucia Caminos is the first playable woman character in the history of the Grand Theft Auto series. The title is the eighth main entry in the franchise, arriving nearly 13 years after Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar confirmed development in February 2022 and officially announced the game in late 2023 with a record breaking debut trailer.

Preorders for GTA VI will officially open on June 25 at retailers and digital storefronts. The game remains scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles on November 19, 2026, following two delays. Take-Two has stated the sequel is still locked in for 2026. The preorder announcement could offer reassurance that the game may still hit its scheduled November release date.

Ratings and Pricing

As of June 18, Grand Theft Auto VI had not yet received a rating from the Entertainment Software Rating Board, though it is expected to receive an M for Mature (17+) rating. It had similarly not yet received a rating from Europe's Pan European Game Information system, though it will most certainly receive an 18+ rating.

Pricing for the latest Grand Theft Auto installment is not expected to be unveiled until preorders go live next week. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series games typically retail for $69.99.
