The road to pre-orders has been long. Grand Theft Auto VI has faced a pair of delays, and Rockstar has officially delayed the game again. Best Buy also triggered a false start when Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders appeared set to go live early before Rockstar's official timing.
Most observers assume Rockstar will reveal pricing before June 25, and that may happen. Given Rockstar's history with the franchise, the first public price could also appear only when pre-order listings go live.
Current-generation pricing has already shifted upward. Mario Kart World debuted at $80, and many expect Grand Theft Auto 6 to land well above older $59.99 and $69.99 benchmarks. A $69.99 launch appears unlikely, while rumors have pointed to a $99.99 list price. Industry speculation more commonly frames the standard edition around $79.99, a deluxe tier near $100, and special editions with extra content anywhere from $150 up to $250.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has addressed value and pricing in recent comments. He said the company tries to charge players:
Than what a game is actually worth, and that gamers need to feel:
The price they were charged was fair for what they got.
That framing suggests $80 may be close to the floor for what Take-Two considers a fair standard price for a major release like Grand Theft Auto 6, though Rockstar has not confirmed any tier or figure.
Deals and upgrades ahead of pre-orders
Rockstar and retailers are already promoting the franchise ahead of the June 25 pre-order window. GTA Online is 50% off, and the GTA Trilogy is up to 67% off. Rockstar has also announced a free Grand Theft Auto upgrade on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Until listings go live, the exact cost of Grand Theft Auto 6 remains unknown. Pre-orders open June 25, and any confirmed price will likely define one of the biggest commercial launches in modern gaming.
