USA and Australia enter with momentum
Both teams arrive with strong opening results. The United States trounced Paraguay 4-1 on June 12. Australia beat Turkey 2-0 on June 14.
USA and Australia will play the match in Seattle, Washington, at Lumen Field. Lumen Field was one of eight stadiums that converted from artificial turf to natural grass for the tournament.
UT Knoxville turf research across World Cup venues
Fans in Knoxville can take pride in the pitch work behind the tournament. Every soccer pitch in all 16 stadiums hosting World Cup matches, including Lumen Field was researched and developed by experts at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, even though the city is not hosting any teams.
The research team, led by UT distinguished professor and expert John Sorochan, carried out a yearslong research effort aimed at creating consistent soccer pitches across North America. The project focused on fairness, safety, and uniformity.
More watch parties with Kern's Food Hall
One Knox SC is also working with Kern's Food Hall to show every match in the tournament, including marquee matches with prizes. The next U.S. team watch party at Kern's is scheduled for June 25.
