World Cup 2026 Power Rankings Reset After Day 12: One Team Reportedly Jumps 11 Spots Into the Top 10

A fresh re-ranking of all 48 World Cup teams after day 12 reportedly reshuffles the board, with France, Argentina, and Norway already through to the last 32.

Jordan's hopes of progression reportedly ended on day 12, while Senegal may still need a strong finish to push for one of the best third-place berths.

France

France may have found a winning formula. Since the second half of their opening game against Senegal, Michael Olise has played in the No. 10 role and provided another two assists in a 3-0 win against Iraq, adding to his match-changing performance in the opener. A storm stoppage in Philadelphia did not slow Mbappe, who scored twice for the second match in a row as France booked a knockout spot. France face Norway on Friday in a group-deciding match.

Argentina

Messi has scored all five of Argentina's goals across their two wins and became the World Cup's all-time leading scorer after his double against Austria. Argentina have posted consecutive clean sheets, though Cristian Romero's substitution against Austria due to a knee injury is a concern.

Germany

Germany 7-1 against Curacao, but their 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast was the more meaningful result even if it came late. Supersub Deniz Undav scored twice off the bench to complete the turnaround, with Felix Nmecha supplying the assist for the added-time winner. The result secured progression at the top of Group E, the first time Germany have emerged from a World Cup group stage since lifting the trophy in 2014. Julian Nagelsmann's side appear to have momentum.

England

England beat Croatia 4-2 as Harry Kane registered a double, Jude Bellingham put them back in front after half-time, and Marcus Rashford came off the bench to score a fourth. Croatia are a top-15-ranked side whose goalkeeper, Dominik Livakovic, made several saves. Defensive questions remain, and England face Ghana on Tuesday.

Spain

Spain responded to a draw against Cape Verde in their opener with a 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia. They had 22 shots, produced 2.85 xG, and could reportedly have scored more. Lamine Yamal scored 10 minutes into his first World Cup start and played 45 minutes, while Mikel Oyarzabal scored twice. Spain face Uruguay on Friday to complete Group H.

Netherlands

The Netherlands laid down a marker by thrashing Sweden. Brian Brobbey came into the starting line-up and powered through Sweden's defence, with Cody Gakpo and Crysencio Summerville also on the scoresheet. With a final group match against Tunisia to come, they look likely to top a group that had appeared tricky on paper, after an unconvincing opening performance.

Given Norway's last-32 clincher and Haaland's place alongside Messi and Mbappe among the tournament's standout scorers, fans tracking the updated table will likely wonder whether Norway is the side that surged 11 spots into the top 10. The full reshuffle may clarify that movement once every ranked entry is published.
