A new wave of scam websites is promising a way to play Grand Theft Auto VI before its official release, and security researchers warn that every offer of this kind should be treated as fraudulent unless Rockstar Games announces it through official channels.

After victims send cryptocurrency, the sites instruct them to wait for payment confirmation and enter a transaction ID to unlock a download. QR codes, payment verification messages, and a large DOWNLOAD button follow. There is no game to deliver. GTA 6 is not available outside Rockstar, so payment generally means losing money with no chargeback path.
Rockstar is selling pre orders, not early access. Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026. Take Two Interactive has said the Grand Theft Auto series has sold more than 465 million copies worldwide, with GTA 5 alone accounting for more than 225 million of those sales since its September 2013 launch. That long wait, multiple delays, and years of speculation have made early access bait especially effective for scammers using scarcity language like exclusive VIP digital access.
